Write a letter to brighten an elder’s day
Everyone deserves a mailbox full of love letters, and we’re on a mission to make that happen– we’ve sent 750,000+ letters of love around the world. So take a few minutes, sit down, and write a letter. Tell them about yourself, maybe share a joke or a riddle and let them know that they are loved.
How to write a letter
It might feel difficult at first to be writing to someone you don’t know. Our advice: just pretend like it’s a conversation! What kinds of things would you want to talk about with a stranger?
Our Guidelines:
1. Letters must be legible (large print), handwritten, and include no glitter. No worries if you’re not artistic– make your card as what you’d like to receive.
2. Avoid religion and controversial topics. Your letter should be meaningful to anyone
3. Embrace creativity! Recipients love it when the letters are personal. We encourage you to make your letters colorful and fun– photos, crosswords, and drawings are great!
4. Be kind & thoughtful. You can include a return address, but please do not expect a reply. We want to ensure recipients don’t feel burdened by the need to reply.
Fulfill July letter requests
Read this month’s bios and choose which of our elder(s) you’d like to write. All letters should be stamped and mailed with love by July 31, 2025. New elders are shared on the 1st of every month!
Pro tip: These addresses will be taken down at the end of the month, so address your envelope before you start your letter.
Ginny
A note from Ginny’s daughter: Ginny has enjoyed doing various different hobbies throughout her lifetime. Cross-stitch, painting ceramics, jigsaw and word puzzles. She now lives in Georgia, but she was born and raised in New Jersey, near the shore. She has had some recent illness which has left her unable to do the majority of things she used to do. For someone who has always made sure that everyone in her life was taken care of, it has been a huge adjustment not being able to care for herself. There is a feeling of isolation from the world outside her room. She is known in our family as the card lady! She always made sure that you got a card for every occasion, and that it was on time, but rarely receives any cards or letters in return. It would just brighten her day so much that someone took the time to write to her.

Barb
A note from Barb’s daughter: Barb grew up in Willmar, Minnesota. She lives in senior housing in Maple Grove, Mn currently. She had to move from Willmar when my dad was diagnosed with dementia. She was devoted to helping care for him and advocate for his healthcare while he slowly deteriorated. She has been lonely ever since he passed 5 years ago. She used to love walking outside until she had a fall last year. She now only walks the halls in her building due to failing knees. Anything to cheer her up and help her get through her days would be appreciated!

Joyce & Tom
A note from their daughter: My parents were born and still live in Western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. This month, they are celebrating 55 years of a wonderful marriage. They do everything together. Joyce loves to cook and bake, garden and try new recipes. Tom tries to be outdoors as much as possible and loves to listen to music. In the past couple of years they have had many health issues. They are not able to do everything they love to do and don’t go out much other than doctors and shopping for essentials. With all of this and the weather being so dreary, they have become a little lonely. They always say how they miss letters and cards because no one does that anymore. They would love to receive cards and letters to read!

Ida
A note from Ida’s daughter: My 95 year old mother and I have been living together for eleven years. She plans to live to 100. She has one son in California, one son in Nevada and a daughter in Arkansas. She has six grand kids and 20+ great-grandkids scattered across the country, but none of them live close so it's just me and her 24/7. She doesn't get out much and rarely has any visitors, so she spends most of her time just watching TV. It would be so awesome for people to send her some LOVE to help occupy her time and show that she is loved.

A note from Louis’s daughter: Louis is 99, and he is looking forward to 100 in September. He’s been lonely since he stopped driving several years ago. He really can’t get around or out much and is a very social person. He loves watercolor painting, big band music, and dancing. He had to stop painting classes due to transportation. He uses his exercise bike every other day to keep his legs going. Although he’s a little slower these days, he has a great attitude and enjoys reading and watching the old TV shows.
